Old Man Crutches

Today I went and did my favorite thing, went to Borders and sat in the cafe and had a White Chocolate Mocha and drew in my sketchbook.  I usually draw in my moleskine, but I like to try different papers so this time I drew in my Meade Academie sketchbook.  What I did was sneak camera-phone photos of people shopping in the store and then drew my sketch from the photo.  Then they are "standing still" for me and I can zoom in, etc.  I like doing it that way.  I only got one sketch done there today.  EDITED TO ADD: The reason there is not bottom of the man is because there was a chair between he and I.

Legare Furniture, sketch in Moleskine

I kinda feel a little queasy right now and don’t feel like sitting on the computer much longer, so I’ll let the writing in the journal speak for itself for now. :)

Sitting in the car

A couple days ago I was sitting in my car waiting for my physio appointment and I began drawing my little stuffed Pug sitting on my steering wheel.  I took a camera phone picture of the scene so that later on I could finish the drawing and get the light/shadows right.  I just finished it now.  It’s kind-of a quick sketch and I didn’t draw the dashboard or anything beyond the windshield, etc.  But I had fun drawing this.  (p.s. added more links to the sidebar.) :)

Sunglasses, the photo.

I recently drew my sunglasses in my moleskine for an EDM challenge while sitting at Subway.  Today I was there again and so I took a cameraphone photo of the glasses so that you can see what they are like.  It’s a neoprene (foam) visor that just slips onto any pair of glasses.  I got it from REI.com but they no longer sell them.  Also, I drew them kinda wonky, and I wanted to show why I did that.  The drawing IS wonky, but my  brain was seeing the front of one lens and the back of the other lens and I just didn’t get the lines lined up so that’s why they look twisted.

Sketches at Borders 4-22-07

I’m real happy ‘cause I spent some time sketching today at a cafe, my favorite thing to do.  I sketched in a different sketchbook than my moleskine, my "black and white patterned sketchbook" which has really soft paper, so I also used soft pencils.  I tried practicing people today.

EDM #11 Sunglasses

I did EDM #11, Sunglasses, today.  I drew it in my moleskine while at Subway, after finishing my sub and waiting for my physical therapy appointment.  Now that I look at it on the computer, the lenses look wonky, kinda twisted, but I KNOW that is what I SAW when I drew it.  I remeber thinking when I drew it that it seemed funny, but that’s exactly what I saw.  Idunno.  These sunglasses have a slip-on sun visor.  I got that visor at rei.com YEARS ago, it was the first item I ever purchased via the internet.  That sunglass visor is the best thing!

Question for you

OFF TOPIC:

Have you turned off your land line and now use cell phone only? If so, have you been satisfied since doing this? I’ve considered doing this but worry that turning off the land line will result in all the telemarketing calls coming to my cell phone, which I don’t want. If you’ve done this, leave a comment here or email me to let me know what you think. Thanks! :)

I found it! Yay!

Not too long ago I drew a sketch in my moleskine from memory, it was a drawing of my cat hiding in a bag. [original post]  It was an image that exists on film "somewhere" but I did not know where the picture was, and so I  drew it from memory.  Well, I FINALLY found the photograph that I had in my head!  Here’s the drawing again as well as the found photo-

NOT BAD!  I have to say, not bad considering it was from memory! :)

ArtRage Sasha

Yesterday I did a small sketch of Sasha on a journal page in my moleskine.  I drew that while looking at a picture of her.

So then today, I imported that sketch into ArtRage2 to use as a tracing image and did a digital painting/sketch.  In ArtRage I used paint and pencils.  Here is the result- BUT… I am still wrestling with whether things look right on the screen, whether you see my images the way I see my images because of monitor brightness, contrast and the tilt angle of my laptop screen.  So I’ll post two versions; one is the very light image I made in artrage and the second is exactly the same but I moved the "Curves" level in photoshop to boost contrast.  Let me know, is the first one "too light" or the second one "too dark"?

Thank You :)

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you who has been leaving me comments latey.  It’s been so wonderful to find such uplifting comments lately, just when I’m feeling sad about kitty.  It’s so neat that online where we all have not met, that people can be so kind and caring.  Thanks to each of you.  HUGS!

Still sad

I can’t stop crying.  I don’t think I’ll ever forgive myself.  I feel like I betrayed her.  I made her last hour frightening as hell; she hates car rides, the vet, it’s all scary.  And that’s what I did to her.  I know she was suffering and I "had to" put her down.  But I’m sick.  I feel a knife in my heart and one in my gut and it never goes away.  I betrayed her.  I killed her.  I scared her instead of holding her at home in bed.  I can’t stand it.
