Pink With Love, hearts.

Another area of my art is my photography, as well as my altered photography.   Below is an original photo that I did and then processed in a photo/art program in order to come up with the dreamy pink image you see.  It’s available as a print from my Etsy shop, http://witchinghour.etsy.com/ 8 x 10 unframed print. Romantic and pink, hearts and love. Ready for framing. Archival quality. Not framed, not mounted. This print shows a heart pendant on a chain and a ring of hearts on a pink background, all with a pink hue.

June 16, 2008

I am still drawing.  Lately my drawings are more doodles and zentangle-style stuff.  I am behind in scanning the sketchbook pages and posting them.  Since they are mostly doodle-like and zentangle-ish things, I’m not sure if they are even “post-worthy”, but that is probably me just being insecure.  In the meantime, maybe you’d enjoy this little video of what often goes on around me when I am drawing in my sketchbook:

Scanned Moleskine Pages

I finally got some more Moleskine pages scanned in.  Yes, I tend to do more doodling lately as opposed to full-fledged, dedicated sketches.  But at least I’m picking up the pen.  You can see all of today’s scans here in this flickr photo set, as well as below.  Some are zentangle-inspired drawings.  If you are my contact on flickr, you can see the “larger size” of these to see more detail.

Back-scans

I had done a video a few months ago showing the moleskine pages / drawings that I had not scanned in.  I have not uploaded yet cuz it is huge.  But I’m by the scanner now so I’ll scan a few of those pages in.  Here is one:

I’ve added another art blog to my sidebar –>

http://yogiemp.blogspot.com/

I am doing more zentangle-style doodles.  I find they stress me out, I mean, I tense up when I am doing them, and I get anxious over what pattern to use next.  I need to a) remember to breathe, and b) try doing some that just use like, 2 or 3 patterns and just repeat them, so that I don’t have to think too much.

Heading out to dinner soon with M’s parents.  Hope to scan in some stuff later tonight.

Some new doodle drawings.

I’ve done some more… doodles. Sketches? No, I think they are more doodles or quick drawings. Drawn in my Moleskine. One of these drawings, though, was done in my leather-wrapped sketchbook. Some of these are my first attempts at “Zentangle“-style doodling. The drawings are here in this Flickr set: flickr.com/photos/laserone/sets/72157604305645670

UPDATE: These two here are the ones that I think qualify as “zentangle”-style drawings:

Last night I laid on my bed listening to the “Haunted New Jersey” podcast on my ipod and drew in my Moleskine.  This was a photo in Reminisce Magazine.

“Draw your breakfast” is the challenge for EDM #162. My first meal of that day was sushi, so that’s what I drew in my moleskine.

3-19-08 Wed.

Hi everyone. I am still here. I thank everyone who has emailed and commented. I have just been dealing with stress and loss and depression and anger and have not felt up to committing to any sketches. I still doodle in my Moleskine a lot, but I rarely sit down to work on a nice sketch.

I did do the video I mentioned in the last post, I just have to find it now and post it.

UPDATE: Ok, I found the video file but it is 169 MEGS. I need to figure out what free video site will let me host a file that size and I may want to password-protect the video, too, idunno.

UPDATE 2: Here is a photo-album of Moleskine doodles that I drew between 12-30-07 and 2-13-08;

UPDATE 3: I have also been keeping a small, moleskine-sized leather-bound journal where I journal, doodle, draw Chinese symbols, and other things. I am not sure those pages are blog-worthy (either they are just doodles or the journalling is too personal). I’ll see.

Happy New Year

Ok. I made the video (mentioned below).  I’ll post it soon, maybe tonight after a late dinner.  Also, I have been drawing so I have some current drawings to post as well.  Happy New Year to everyone.

Thank you. 12-7-07

Hi everyone.  I just wanted to say “Thank You” for your recent comments and inquiries as to where I’ve been.

I have just been feeling really down and I find that when I draw my brain wanders and I think too much about the bad stuff too much.  I need to reprogram my brain or something.  I’ve been doing a lot of ficiton reading in an atempt at escaping, and so I’ve been reading A LOT.

Money’s been tight (or non-existant, long story) so I got a part time job.  I love it, it’s the best part time retail job I could ever want, at my favorite place, but working on my feet is KILLING me.  I have bad feet and my “Plantars Fasciitis” has flared up and it’s been terribly painful and I’ve had to miss work because of it.  I’ve been to the doc for it and went to a podiatrist today (and got a painful cortizone shot).

Anyway, between feeling down, not drawing much, and working a lot (meaning I’m tired and not online as much), I haven’t been art-blogging as much.

That said, I HAVE been doodling in my Moleskine… not real dedicated drawings, mostly doodles, and what I may do is do a video of the page-turns as a sort-of catch-up blog post.  Yeah, I like that idea.

Thanks again to all those who have commented and asked where I was.  It means a lot to know that there are real people out there thinking of me! :)

ATCs and ACEOs, still learning

As I said in a recent post, I’m interesting in doing ATCs but have yet to do one or trade any.  I need to learn more.  I just said to a friend of mine in chat,  that I see that a lot of ATCs are like collages (that do not incorporate any original drawings or paintings), and I think they are VERY beautiful, and it IS art.  But I thought the main point was to trade your sketches / drawings / paintings on these cards.  I am actually having trouble finding ATCs online that consist mainly of, or even incorporate original sketches/paintings.  Maybe I’m just looking in the wrong place.  While looking at ATCs on flickr, the photo site, I see mostly collages.  But then when I look at ACEOs on eBay, they seem to be mostly paintings.  I guess I have a lot to learn, because I’m not sure what is acceptable.  I’d hate to send out an ATC to someone with a drawing I worked hard on only to have them be disappointed because it’s “just a drawing”.  I’m not sure how this all works.  I’ve been looking at many ATC websites and magazine articles and such.  There are so many styles and some of them are so beautiful it’s hard to believe that the artist could fit so much beauty on one little card.  :)

Floppy

Here is another one of my childhood stuffed animal sketches that I did recently.  (One time during our life, my mother and I lost everything we owned- everything; clothes, books, diaries, china, family photos, yearbooks, stuffed animals, everything.  It might as well have been a house fire, it was all just GONE.  So I am often nostalgic for my earliest childhood toys.)

Artist Trading Cards

You know, I could swear posts have gone missing from this blog. I can just picture the post in my head and even the comments, but it’s like some posts just went “POOF!” and disappeared! I don’t get it. Maybe I’m imagining things.

I thought I had, a while ago, blogged about how I got this book and really liked it:

Artist Trading Card Workshop: Create, Collect, Swap
by Bernie Berlin

I am really interested in ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) and would like to learn more about them and try making some. It looks like something I’d really enjoy. By the way, this book is really cool. Here are some links that I have bookmarked to check out re. ATCs-

Ellie the Elephant

One night on my way to bed, I got an urge to draw some of my childhood stuffed animals.  One time during our life, my mother and I lost everything we owned- everything; clothes, books, diaries, china, family photos, yearbooks, stuffed animals, everything.  It might as well have been a house fire, it was all just GONE.  So I am often nostalgic for my earliest childhood toys.  Here is one of the ones I drew that night:

Blythe Doll & Pug

(Hi EDM Superblog readers! Please visit my art blog ILuvArt.net I am adding many new sketches today and I am always looking forward to meeting other people who like to draw.)  I am really happy w/ this sketch.  It is based on a photo I saw in Craft Magazine of a Blythe Doll, but I added my own twist to it.  In the photo, the coat has little deer on it and she is holding the leash for a stuffed deer.  But in my drawing, I made the deer into PUGS! :)  If I had the patience to sew (which I don’t) and better skill at crafting, I would get Blythe doll and make a custom Pug outfit and dog for it.  But I don’t have the skill or patience.  However, if somebody were to do a Blythe doll set like this, I’d buy it in a heartbeat! Drawin in pencil in my moleskine:

Sketch from the dentist’s office

This was started 8-7-07 and I just finished it now.  I started drawing this sketch while at the dentist’s office and I got called in before I was done.  Luckily, I took a camera-phone pic of the scene I got called back, so I was able to finish the sketch now from the photo.
